The Bundesbank bunker documentation site was opened to the public in March 2016. Previously, it was a top-secret facility that held a reserve currency of 15 billion german marks during the Cold War.

The Bundesbank bunker is a relic of the Cold War and living history. The listed underground vault and bunker is unique in Europe. The documentation center lets the visitor feel the Cold War up close during the tour and is at the same time a memorial for peace – especially today more relevant than ever.

The temperature in the bunker is 12°C all year round.

Yes, with a photo permit that can be purchased at the entrance for €2.50. However, the photos may only be used for private purposes.

You can buy a few souvenirs of your visit to the Bundesbank bunker at the bunker ticket office:

  • Bunker Riesling Sparkling wine
  • Banknote set
  • Booklet Bunker History
  • Pin
  • Mug

The Bundesbank bunker is a privately run museum that has been extensively renovated and restored without public funding. The digitization of the museum was supported by the reboot culture funding (funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media, supervised by the German Association for Archeology). The new construction of the visitor center is supported by LEADER funding.

Since this is a paramilitary facility from the Cold War era, the bunker is unfortunately not barrier-free. The approx. 40-minute tour has a walking distance of 300 meters with approx. 100 steps, so that the Bundesbank bunker cannot be visited with a walker or a wheelchair. People with walking difficulties can take part in the guided tour at their own discretion.

Hotel Vintage‘s terrace invites you to linger during the summer months (May-October) and offers a small menu of hearty and sweet dishes.

Groups are requested to reserve on +49 2671 506 70 80.

We offer a sparkling wine reception for groups before or after the tour. Feel free to contact us on +49 2671 915 35 40.

Dogs are not allowed to visit the bunker.
